ending lifespan
This might be my favorite picture I've taken thus far in the semester. I walked outside one morning and noticed a massive swallowtail nearing the end of its life sitting on a rock. It was sleepy enough for me to take some extensive close up shots of its scales which I've never been able to pay attention to. I was not expecting each one to be that fragile and to see fur on the end of the wings. Perhaps it was a little macabre to take a picture of a delicate thing while it's well... dying, but they have such a short lifespan I was happy to admire it before it was long gone.

This photo shows a lot of great textures. One can almost feel the fur, fuzziness, and smoothness of the wings.
